6abc meteorologists are forecasting heavy rain and nearly 60 mph wind gusts at the shore late Friday night into Saturday.

Idalia has sustained winds of 125 mph — which is a powerful Category 3 "major hurricane." The storm, which had been a Category 4 early this morning.

Forecasters say the storm is expected to intensify as it moves north over the Gulf of Mexico, but it's still unclear how strong it will be and what path it will take.
