A former SEPTA police officer is facing multiple assault charges for allegedly bashing two protesters with a baton during protests of police violence in May.

In-person learning will not resume until after Oct. 27 at least. Eight coronavirus cases have been confirmed at the Center City school.

Most of the camp’s now approximately 80 occupants will move into city shelters or shared housing until the agreed-upon permanent housing is available.

After months of delay caused by a protest encampment and years of anticipation, PHA broke ground on retail and housing set to create hundreds of jobs.

“We need to do much more than we’re currently doing to address this crisis,” City Councilmember Jamie Gauthier said in introducing the new resolution.

The Black-led organization plans to use the space to expand their anti-violence work and train young people in conflict resolution.
