Over 100 Streets Dept. workers sanitation rallied near City Hall Tuesday morning to protest their treatment during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Many of the protests are calling for specific changes in Philadelphia, including the defunding of the police department.

Days after the state’s unprecedented primary election, a Trump-aligned Republican candidate in the 5th Congressional District race is cautiously optimistic she has won.

In a release, Chief Press Officer Andrew Busch noted that coverings don’t have to be fancy, they may be as simple as a bandana or repurposed t-shirt.

In social media posts earlier this week, the Republican official referred to Black Lives Matter as a radical left-wing hate group.

Philadelphia is yet again imposing a mandatory, citywide curfew — but it will start two hours later than usual, at 8 p.m.

Mail-in ballots were so popular in Pennsylvania that it could take up to a week until all races are called.

The primary was delayed because of COVID-19 and many voters chose to cast a ballot by mail instead.

Pennsylvania officials promise unrest and COVID-19 won’t prevent people from casting a ballot in Tuesday’s primary.

“The peaceful protests earlier were touching showings of our collective grief,” Mayor Kenney said. “But the anger displayed now and this afternoon cannot continue.”

Although health officials say Philly has slowed the spread of the coronavirus, they are fearful of losing those gains if social distancing measures are relaxed too quickly.

The pandemic has scrapped the playbook for primary campaigning in a congressional district that made waves in 2018 after the redistricting decision.
