The civil rights organization has reached out to student demonstrators following the Feb. 20 incident at Quakertown Community High School in Bucks County.

The 20-bed facility at 1107 E. Main St. is “designed to get residents off the street and back on a stable path,” Montgomery County Commissioner Jamila Winder said.

The century-old aerospace fastener facility in Abington Township went up in flames in February 2025, prompting evacuation orders.

The Westlakes Office Park is about a mile away from an elementary school in Berwyn, Chester County.

“ICE is vastly, vastly overfunded,” said U.S. Rep. Chrissy Houlahan of Chester County. “They have a budget that is larger than many countries' entire defense budgets.”

“Our history is imperfect,” said Delco Council Chair Richard Womack, “but it is ours, and the federal government can’t rewrite it or ignore it."

Although an outside investigation determined “human error” caused the Election Day mistake, some in Chester County are demanding consequences.

The Trump administration has previously eyed the facility in Upper Bern Township as a site for an immigration detention center.

Scanlon, who represents Delco and parts of Philly and Montco, conducted congressional oversight of the facility after one of her constituents died in ICE custody.
