Yannick Nezet-Seguin and the Philadelphia Orchestra

Listen

The Philadelphia Orchestra’s 114th season and music director YANNICK NÉZET-SÉGUIN’s second full season is humming along after opening to an all-Tchaikovsky program. The Orchestra and Nezet-Seguin have released their first recording for the Deutsche Grammaphon label of four of former Philadelphia Orchestra conductor Leopold Stokowski’s arrangements, the first recording in 15 years to record straight to microphone, without a live audience. The recording contains Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring and Pastorale and three Johann Sebastian Bach transcriptions. We’ll look back on the past year, which included the Orchestra’s trip to China. Nezet-Seguin hopes to sustain the Orchestra’s signature Philadelphia Sound as he honors Stokowski’s modern vision looking towards the future, including a collaboration with Opera Philadelphia.
