It’s summer in Philadelphia. Therefore it’s very hot and humid, and putting on a pair of closed-toe shoes or a tie is the last thing you want to do going out the door to work in the morning. Not all corporate environments mandate a tie for men and a conservative hemline for women, and not all non-profits accept cargo pants and sandals in the cubicle. What is expected of your appearance in the workplace? What do you do about a co-worker with grooming inconsistencies; and is body art becoming more accepted? How do you know you’re dressed for success within the culture you work? We’ll discuss the stress of dress with Philadelphia Daily News pop culture critic JENICE ARMSTRONG and human resource consultant LAURIE RUETTIMANN, whose blog is thecynicalgirl.com.
