DA: Judge dismisses 59 cases involving former Philly narcotics officer

Prosecutors say a judge has dismissed almost five dozen cases involving investigations by a former Philadelphia police officer convicted of having schemed to rob a drug dealer.

Prosecutors said Friday that the judge vacated 59 cases involving former narcotics officer Jeffrey Walker with the agreement of the District Attorney Seth Williams. Forty-three cases were upheld.

Prosecutors said a total of 160 cases involving Walker have been vacated and 58 cases upheld since he was indicted in May 2013. Walker pleaded guilty in federal court in February to stealing $15,000 from a drug dealer in a plot that also involved planting drugs in his car.

Walker has been cooperating in a broader probe of the drug trafficking unit. Six officers were charged in July with robbing, beating and kidnapping drug suspects.
