Good morning, Streeters. It’s Tax Day. May the post office lines be swift and pain be brief. Despite the beautiful springtime blooms, winter weather will make a comeback this evening: cold wind, heavy rain, and a temperature plunge into the low 30s. Ouch.

Inga Saffron won the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for her “criticism of architecture that blends expertise, civic passion and sheer readability.” Saffron is a three-time finalist for the prize and we congratulate her. (These are the columns that earned Saffron journalism’s top honor.) It was the 20th Pulitzer Prize for the Inquirer. Here’s what Saffron told PhillyMag’s Property about her work writing about Philly.

Even as the Inquirer newsroom celebrated, a court in Delaware began hearings Monday about how a sale of the Inquirer, Daily News, and Philly.com will proceed. The question of whether to hold an open or private auction remains an issue among the ownership group, the Daily News explains.

SEPTA is temporarily restoring 24-hour subway service on Fridays and Saturdays. The Inquirer reports that from mid-June to Labor Day, overnight subway service on the Broad Street and Market-Frankford lines will replace Night Owl buses that have been used since 1991. If ridership responds well, SEPTA may continue the late-night service beyond Labor Day.

Meanwhile in PATCO world: Stolen copper wire from PATCO tracks led to delays for much of Monday. Philly.com reports that a “’significant’ amount of cable was stolen west of the Ferry Avenue station, and electrical equipment was damaged.”
