After Philadelphia Police released bodycam footage of Walter Wallace Jr.’s shooting death, West Philadelphia residents have ideas for reform.

Neither officer has more than three years experience on the PPD. At request of the Wallace family, the video was lightly redacted, but it is still extremely disturbing.

Philadelphians are gathering in Center City following the release of 911 audio and police bodycam footage from the officers who fatally shot Walter Wallace Jr.

“Not counting every vote threatens to tear this nation apart,” one organizer said.

The Wallace family has viewed the video already, and said, via an attorney, that they did not wish to see the two officers face murder charges.

The rally, organized by the Party for Socialism and Liberation – Philly and other groups, demands that the officers who shot Wallace be held accountable.

The curfew will run until 6 a.m. Saturday. It is the second imposed since Monday’s shooting of Walter Wallace Jr. by police officers in West Philadelphia.

Troy Moore said the looting and vandalism of local commercial corridors and shopping centers will have a ripple impact on the affected communities.
