The other side of the border crisis

The current border crisis is a result of the turmoil present in many Central American countries. We look at the problems in Central America that cause residents to flee, and the US’s role in creating these issues. First, we’ll speak with The American Friends Service Committee’s FABIOLA FLORES MUÑOZ. She works to improve security and peace in Guatemala City. We’ll speak with her about the conditions there, the Guatemalan perspective on why people flee their home countries, and what they see as the cause of the ongoing tumult. Then, we get the history of US involvement in the region with University of Texas at Dallas Professor of History STEPHEN RABE, who has written extensively on U.S.-Latin American relations. We’ll also be joined by STEPHANIE McNULTY, assistant professor of government at Franklin and Marshall College, who recently wrote a piece entitled “U.S. helped create crisis along border” for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
