The Future of Philadelphia’s Catholic schools: A conversation with Casey Carter

In August the Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced that it was turning over control of 17 of its high schools and four special education schools to an independent foundation created to raise money and stave off closures for the regions Catholic schools. In recent years the city’s Catholic schools have been struggling with declining enrollment and increasing costs. The Faith in the Future Foundation named their first chief executive, SAMUEL CASEY CARTER, an education consultant who has worked with both Catholic and charter schools. Today, we’ll meet Casey Carter, the man charged with overseeing our region’s Catholic high schools and talk to him about the challenges that lie ahead.
