Exploring the trail
It’s summertime so we decided to take the show outdoors. We’re coming to you from Wilmington’s riverfront, specifically, The Constitution Yards seasonal beer garden located along the Christina Riverwalk. If you’re looking to relax and grab a bite to eat while your kids play nearby in the sandbox, this may be the place for you. Delaware has several beer, wine and spirits locations across the state. Delaware’s tourism director Liz Keller told us about some of them.

Bubble soccer
If you’ve ever played soccer, you know it takes agility to get the ball past the players, the goalie and into the net for the score. So imagine trying to do that while enclosed in a giant plastic bubble. Not an easy fete, but in bubble soccer the goal is to have fun.

Learning Camp
Summertime is when kids want to hit the pool or the beach, frolic outside or relax indoors, not reading, writing and arithmetic. But we visited an innovative camp this month, which tackles that conventional wisdom. New Castle County recently opened a beautiful library in the low-income Rt. 9 corridor near New Castle. And now, armed with a lucrative federal grant, the county is using that new building in a partnership with the YMCA of Delaware.

White Clay Creek
Just a short drive from here in Wilmington sits a natural oasis in the midst of the bustle of crowded New Castle County development. More than 3,000 acres in size, White Clay Creek State Park draws more than 200-thousand visitors annually, but what does the future hold for the state’s third largest park?

First Experience: Nancy Josephson
For Nancy Josephson turning the mundane into something more personal is the goal of her artwork. Using beads, taxidermy and busts of people as the backdrop, Nancy imbues her work with emotion, sparkle, and even a sense of humor or spirituality and sometimes both. She does all of this from her Wilmington studio, which is where we caught up with her for this week’s First Experience.
