The animal shelter is waiving adoption fees through Oct. 16 for adult cats and dogs to make room for the Hurricane Milton-affected cats.

Officials in Tioga County in north-central Pennsylvania said Saturday that a search and rescue operation was going on for one person unaccounted for in the Knoxville area.

Episodes of heavy rain and damaging wind are possible Friday. Sunny skies should return Saturday.

Some areas have already seen a month’s worth of rain this week.
