Students get prom do-over after power outage mars first one

Some southern New Jersey high school students are getting a second prom after a power outage brought their first one to a premature conclusion.

Winslow school officials tell NJ.com that a local banquet venue offered Tuesday to host the second prom free of charge.

The Winslow Township High School Junior/Senior Prom was held Friday at a facility in Voorhees.

Parents say the power was out for about half the time the students were in the building, meaning they had to sit without music or lights for about two hours before being sent home around 9 p.m. The event had been scheduled to end at 11:30 p.m.
