Bucks suspects face hearing in attack on Philly gay couple

Three adults who allegedly assaulted a gay couple in Philadelphia in September are due in court Tuesday morning for a preliminary hearing.

Police say Kathryn Knott, Kevin Harrigan and Philip Williams, all Bucks County residents, shouted gay slurs at the couple and then brutally attacked them.

Attorneys for the defendants say the authorities mischaracterized the incident.

“This was really more of a confrontation between two groups of people that led to a fight,” said Harrigan’s attorney, Josh Scarpello. “And not so much one group of people targeting another group of people.”
