NJ Transit probes report of reading bus driver
New Jersey Transit is investigating after a passenger photographed a bus driver apparently reading while in stop-and-go traffic.
It happened Tuesday on the 324 bus on Route 80 east in Wayne.
A commuter, who did not want to be identified, told WCBS-TV that the driver first read a pamphlet then put a book on the steering wheel.
The woman said the bus was moving slowly and once traffic cleared and he accelerated, he put the book down.
NJ Transit says it’s committed to ensuring the safety of bus operation and taking swift and appropriate action upon the completion of the investigation.
