Author Lisa Graff, of Narberth, Pennsylvania, has new novel for younger readers out this summer.

She had been considered for the National Book Award in 2013, for her book A Tangle of Knots. Her newly published book for kids takes on a heavy subject in a lighthearted way.

The Great Treehouse War is about a 5th grader named Winnie whose parents are getting divorced. In protest, she decides to live in her treehouse and not come down.

Graff came into out studio to speak with reporter Peter Crimmins. She began by reading a passage from The Great Treehouse War, when Winnie’s parents told her and her cat, Buttons, to come into the living room for an important talk.
