Hour 1

The White House released a year assessment on the war in Afghanistan.  In a press briefing yesterday, President Obama said that “we are on track to achieve our goals.”  However, the assessment also said that the progress was “fragile” and “reversible,” and pointed to issues like corruption in the Afghan government and terrorist safe havens in Pakistan as significant obstacles.  We’ll get two views on the assessment, and the Obama strategy in Afghanistan.  Our guests are BILL ROGGIO, managing editor of The Long War Journal, and MICHAEL HANNA, a fellow at the Century Foundation.  We’ll also talk with RACHEL REID, Human Rights Watch’s Afghanistan researcher, about how the war is affecting women’s rights.
