Philly is hosting six games on the biggest stage in soccer, including a Fourth of July game during the Semiquincentennial.

“For us as Philadelphia to be a host to players that are so ingrained in soccer worldwide is awesome,” Meg Kane, host city executive of Philadelphia Soccer 2026, said.

The legendary captain will not lead the defending FIFA Men’s World Cup champions on the field, after he was ruled out with a hamstring injury.

The captain was injured last week while playing for his Inter Miami club in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Lincoln Financial Field will play host to a Fourth of July round-of-16 game during the semiquincentennial, as well as five group games in June.

New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium beat out AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas as the venue for the final on July 19.

The 25-year-old winger from Hershey, Pa., in his first season with AC Milan, also won in 2017, ’19 and ’21.

The son of a post official from the working-class Munich district of Giesing, Beckenbauer became one of the greatest players to grace the game.

Other sites and scheduling for the 16-team event will be revealed later.
