Congressional dysfunction with AEI’s Norman Ornstein
Listen
Hour 1
When it comes to the partisan rancor and gridlock that defines Congress and seriously handicaps government, just point your finger at the Republican Party. That’s according to NORMAN ORNSTEIN, co-author with Thomas Mann of the new book, “It’s Even Worse Than It Looks.” Ornstein and Mann have been observing and studying the legislative branch for over 40 years and have earned reputations as thoughtful and independent scholars — which is why their accusations have raised more than a few eyebrows. The GOP, in their opinion, has moved dramatically to the right, becoming a party of “insurgent outliers” and “when one party moves this far from the mainstream, it makes it nearly impossible for the political system to deal constructively with the country’s challenges,” they write. Ornstein, a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, will discuss how we got here in this hour of Radio Times, and what we can do to fix politics so that our government can get back to work.
