Lydia Denworth’s “I Can Hear You Whisper”

Listen

Guest: Lydia Denworth

[From the Radio Times Archive] When science writer LYDIA DENWORTH’s son was diagnosed with profound hearing loss she dove head-first into learning everything she could about deaf culture and hearing and sound — how the brain makes it work and its role in the development of language and literacy. Her new book I Can Hear You Whisper is part science, part sociological, and part parenting memoir as she takes us to the cutting edge of what we now know about the relationship between the brain and sound and shares her experiences raising a son who is deaf. Denworth joined Marty in the studio this May to discuss her book on Radio Times.
