Two Delaware WIC offices close for upgrades

Two WIC offices in Delaware are temporarily closing next month to upgrade the program to a new data system called WIC on the Web (WOW).

According to Delaware’s Division of Public Health, the WIC office at the Hudson State Service Center in Newark and the Shipley State Service Center in Seaford will close on Jan. 7 until Jan. 11. Normal business hours will resume at both locations on Jan. 14.

During the closures, the locations will not be able to provide services, however DPH said WIC participants at both sites were told weeks in advance about the closing so they could alter their routine.

The two locations assist approximately 750 families and DPH said the system upgrades will allow WIC staff to improve their collection and retrieval of data and information on WIC participants to provide faster and more efficient services.

This fall, DPH plans to add a client portal that will interface with the new data system and will allow participants to add information for eligibility and schedule appointments.

Any WIC participants experiencing problems due to the closure can call Delaware WIC at 1-800-222-2189.
