Tracy Morgan remains in critical but stable condition

A spokesman for actor and comedian Tracy Morgan says he faces an “arduous” recovery after a New Jersey weekend car accident that badly injured him and killed one of his friends.

Spokesman Lewis Kay said in an email Monday that Morgan underwent surgery on a broken leg at a New Brunswick hospital and remains in critical but stable condition. Morgan’s fiancee is at his side.

A Wal-Mart truck driver has been charged with vehicular homicide and assault by auto in the Saturday morning crash on the New Jersey Turnpike. Authorities say Kevin Roper, a Georgia truck-driver hadn’t slept for more than 24 hours before the crash.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office is leading the investigation with help from New Jersey State Police and the National Transportation Safety Board.  Roper was set to be arraigned in a Middlesex County, N.J. court on Monday, but the hearing was postponed to Wednesday at 3 p.m.
