Toddler found wandering Delaware Walmart parking lot
A woman is facing charges after her three-year-old son was found walking through a Walmart parking lot on Wednesday.
The toddler was spotted alone in the Dover Walmart parking lot around 1:40 Wednesday afternoon. By the time police arrived, the boy had been reunited with his mother by Walmart staff.
Police said 34-year-old Brandi Jones of Magnolia left the boy, along with two other children, a one-year-old girl and an 8-month-old girl, in a parked car, while she went into the Walmart to shop. They said Jones initially gave police a false name because she had previously been ordered to stay away from Walmart. That order came after she was accused of shoplifting at a Walmart in Camden in June.
Jones is now being held at the Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and criminal trespass charges. She’s again been ordered to stay away from Walmart and she’s also ordered to have no contact with the children.
The children are in good condition and are being cared for by a relative.
