The Buzz: Clean and Green on Germantown Ave | Chinatown Tower | President’s House Mess | Zoning Debate

Newsworks reports that the Mt. Airy Business Improvement District has been hard at work keeping it’s piece of Germantown Avenue clean, green, and well-lit, but the city has been slower to implement nearby streetscape improvements that were promised.

Have you seen the renderings for the Chinatown Development Corporation’s proposed mixed-use 23-story tower at the northwest corner of 10th and Vine streets. If it gets built, this tower will be a big deal for Chinatown’s growth north of Vine. PlanPhilly has the story and renderings.

The President’s House has technical difficulties, from malfunctioning video displays to foggy windows into the excavated areas. The Inquirer explains that because the City is the construction manager, they’re on the hook for repairs which should happen soon.

The Daily News calls the city’s current zoning code, and the end-game to replace it, a “bloody mess.” This week the Its Our Money podcast will feature a zoning reform debate between Councilman Bill Green and reform advocate Kiki Bolender. And, don’t forget, City Council will resume hearings on zoning reform on Tuesday.
