The French National Day, also known as Bastille Day, commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison in Paris on July 14, 1789, during the French Revolution.

For years, Philadelphians have been celebrating Bastille Day at the Eastern State Penitentiary. On Saturday,  the Bearded Ladies Cabaret will be on hand to present the entire French Revolution in a one-hour performance, including Marie Antoinette’s immortal cry of “Let them eat Tastykake!”

Members of the troupe stopped by our studios to give a preview.  John Jarboe portrays the chanteuse  Edith Piaf as the emcee, and Kristen Bailey plays a baguette. They’re joined by singer Kate Raines and Heath Allen on keyboard. To hear their studio performance, click on the audio player above.
