Printing franchise makes Delaware its new home

The Industrial Park in Newport is about 85-percent full thanks to businesses like Speedpro Imaging, a printing franchise that celebrated its September opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday.

According to Newport Mayor Michael Spencer, keeping the Industrial Park packed with businesses can be a challenge due to the struggling economy. However, today’s ribbon cutting celebration is a sign that the local economy is moving in the right direction.

“What it means is continued expansion of our business district down here and of course jobs. We’re always worried about jobs and we want people working,” said Mayor Spencer.

Speedpro Imaging has a small staff now says marketing manager Amanda Summer, but not for long. As business increases at the company, the goal is to add more jobs to its Marsh Lane office.

“A lot of our people are being put to work and that’s the biggest thing. When this business district gets filled up, it makes it easy to keep attracting more business,” added Mayor Spencer.

Speedpro Imaging has many locations, but this is the first franchise in the state.
