Police: DWI suspect caught after car chase, crash in N.J.

An accused drunken driver who allegedly fled from a traffic stop was captured when he crashed into a sign for an apartment complex in southern New Jersey.

Glassboro police tell the South Jersey Times that officers targeting suspected drunken and impaired drivers had stopped 62-year-old Bruce Berry Jr. around 11:30 p.m. Friday. The Barrington resident initially stopped his vehicle, but soon sped off with officers in pursuit.

A brief chase ensued through residential neighborhoods south of Rowan University’s campus. It ended when Berry’s vehicle crashed into the sign in front of the Campus Crossing complex on Route 322.
