Motorcycle gang with Philly link indicted in deadly crimes
Members of a nationwide motorcycle gang are named in a federal indictment unsealed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office Tuesday. Gang members from seven states allegedly were involved in murder, kidnapping, drug distribution and racketeering.
Officials say the Wheels of Soul Outlaw Motorcycle Gang is governed by a hierarchical structure. The mother chapter and its officers, located in Philadelphia, control the entire organization, they said.
Officials say by targeting the senior leaders, they hope to dismantle the gang. They say the criminal organization has committed acts of violence, including murder, attempted murder, robbery, and assault with a deadly weapon as well distributing controlled substances.
The indictment caps a two-year investigation into the gang, which has chapters in at least 20 states.
The charges carry punishments up to life imprisonment.
