Man shot 17 times, killed on Philly street

Police say they’re searching for two suspects in the death of a man shot 17 times during a suspected robbery attempt on a southwest Philadelphia street.

Officers responding to calls about multiple gunshots in the city’s Kingsessing section found the 51-year-old unconscious around 12 a.m. Friday on the South Paxon Street sidewalk.

They say the man had gunshot wounds to the face and body.

Chief Inspector Scott Small says the man’s wallet was found a few feet away, indicating a possible robbery.

Small says the suspects used a semi-automatic weapon and fled on foot.

He says investigators are reviewing footage from surveillance cameras in the area.

The investigation is continuing.
