Man killed, 3 seriously when 2 sport utility vehicles crash in Jackson, NJ

One person was killed and three others were seriously injured when two sport utility vehicles collided in southern New Jersey.

Authorities say the crash occurred around 10:15 a.m. Sunday in Jackson Township, at the intersection of Cedar Swamp Road and West Commodore Boulevard.

James McCarthy, a 68-year-old township resident who was a passenger in one of the SUV’s, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

The driver of that SUV, 67-year-old township resident Susan McCarthy, and two Lakewood residents in the other vehicle – 51-year-old Shmuel Merman and 50-year-old Ahuva Merman – were all hospitalized with serious injuries. But further details on their conditions were not disclosed.
