Lewes thinks it can be bike friendly

Right now Newark is the only certified bike friendly town in Delaware.  Lewes wants to lay claim to that as well.

The news website delmarvanow.com reports Lewes is looking over how it can receive that designation from the League of American bicyclists.

Lewes has a Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee.  That group will hold hearings in March to figure out what changes need to be made in town to bring it up to the standards outlined by the LAB.

Delaware has made bicycling a top priority in its push for tourist dollars over the last year.  On a recent edition of First Mark Eichmann reported on the recently opened bike path across the St. Georges Bridge that now links bike paths north and south of the canal.
