Civic Goals and Urban Design Strategies for the 40th Street Corridor – Final Presentation

Friends of 40th Street, Sustainable Communities Initiative West, and the University City District invite you to the final presentation of The Civic Goals and Urban Design Strategies for the 40th Street Corridor. This public presentation caps off a summer of public forums where community stakeholders came together to have a conversation about urban design along 40th Street. Presentation begins at 6:30pm, light refreshments served.
Haunted Historical Society of Pennsylvania Ghost Tours

Take a tour behind the scenes of HSP with spiritual medium, Marisa Liza Pell to hear about the ghosts that haunt HSP’s 100-year-old building. Spring Garden Street Greenway Public Meeting
Thursday, October 27, 6:30pm refreshments, 7pm meeting starts. Community College of Philadelphia, Center for Business & Industry, Room C2-28, 18th and Callowhill streets. The Pennsylvania Environmental Council is holding the first public input meeting for the proposed Spring Garden Street Greenway. The Greenway would connect the Schuylkill River Trail and the growing Delaware River Trail, running river to river.
Master Builder Dialogues: Preserving America
Thursday, October 27-Friday October 28. American Philosophical Society, 427 Chestnut Street. Preserving America focuses on education and preservation technology for the twenty-first century. Attendees will have a unique opportunity to participate in presentations on icons in American history, historic preservation and architectural significance highlighting such notable buildings as Independence Hall, Christ Church, the Statue of Liberty and the PSFS/Loews Hotel by world-renowned practitioners Robert Silman, John Milner, Nick Gianopolus, John Robbins and Art Jones. Preserving America is presented by The Carpenter’s Company, with the National Park Service and Drexel University’s Goodwin College of Professional Studies. Tickets are $50 per session, or $120 for all three sessions, or $10 per session for students. Continuing Education credits are available. Register online.
