Parkway Action Plan Community Meetings

Monday, July 30, 6-8:30pm at Olivet Covenant Presbyterian Church, 22nd and Mt. Vernon streets. Tuesday, July 31, 6-8:30pm at Storefront for Urban Innovation, 2816 West Girard Avenue. The Department of Parks and Recreation, PennPraxis, the Penn Project for Civic Engagement are asking for your help developing an Action Plan for the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Head out to one of the upcoming public meetings to share your ideas for projects and programs that will make the Parkway a more lively and interesting place. Registration will begin at 6pm, meetings start at 6:30pm. Register in advance by emailing praxis@design.upenn.edu. Contact Penn Project for Civic Engagement at (215) 898-1112 with any questions.

Behind PlanPhilly: A Man and His Ship Boat Tour

Wednesday, August 1, 6-8pm. Departs from: Ben Franklin Yachts, 401 N. Columbus Boulevard. Historian Steve Ujifusa will join PennPraxis Executive Director Harris Steinberg to lead a boat tour of Philadelphia’s Central Delaware Waterfront. We’ll get up close to the S.S. United States to discuss the ship with Steve whose new book, A Man and His Ship, is all about the “Big U.” Join us for a lovely evening on the river. $35 tickets may be purchased online.

Design Advocacy Group: Museum of the American Revolution

Thursday, August 2, 8am. Center for Architecture, 1218 Arch Street. Kevin Smith, Partner in Charge at Robert A.M. Stern Architects, along with members of the staff of the Museum of the American Revolution will be on hand to present and discuss their proposed building near Independence Hall.
