In the shadow of the Ben Franklin Bridge, a floating community for people who don’t quite want to live in the city

They’re right at the edge of the city, but it feels like a million miles away.

For the residents of the marina, life is a cross between island and big city life.  It’s part oasis and part practicality.

Patty: “We’re living the dream.”

George: “It was really a financial decision…I was priced out of real estate.”

Abe: “Today, we don’t have people who are interested in boating. The boats are basically, for most people, a low cost trailer.”

Karen: “Sometimes you wake up and there’s a huge container ship going by. That’s kind of surreal.”

Al: “This is our little oasis in the middle of hell. I don’t like city life. I’d rather be in nature.”
