One of the highest ranking Democrats in the country came to Philadelphia to talk about hunger and how the federal government can help.
Congressman Dwight Evans brought House Democratic Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to Philadelphia to talk about the impact of President Trump’s proposed budget cuts on the working poor and others.
Pelosi said the cuts are all part of an effort to deconstruct government.
“Medicare should wither on the vine, privatize social security, cut and cap medicaid to name a few, defund the environmental protection agency.”
Evans said his constituents tell him they have different priorities.
“Jobs, jobs, jobs, they talk to me about education those are the things they talk to me about and for those are the things that I think and most of the people who have known me for a long period of time, I’ve always tried to remind people about an agenda, an agenda relating to people.”
The duo said it’s too early to know how much of the proposed budget will get approved by Congress.
