Police need help finding Chew Ave. bank robber

The Philadelphia Police Department and the FBI are seeking the public’s assistance to identify and locate the subject responsible for the robbery of the Beneficial Bank branch located at 5301 Chew Street earlier today.

At approximately 10:28 AM, the subject entered the bank and presented a threatening demand note to a teller. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the subject fled the area of the bank on foot and was last seen headed northbound and Chew Street and then westbound on Church.

The subject is described as black male in his 40’s, 6’ tall, medium build, with a beard and mustache, wearing a tan heavy winter coat with fur around the hood and a gold wedding band on his left ring finger. The subject was carrying a black duffel bag. The subject may have dye stains on his clothing and/or skin.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Philadelphia Police Department or the FBI at 215-418-4000. There may be a reward for information leading to this subject’s capture, and tipsters can remain anonymous. This subject, as are all bank robbers, is considered armed and dangerous.
