Education job fair draws prospective teachers and school administrators to Newark
At an education job fair today at the University of Delaware in Newark, Governor Markell is signing legislation to improve the teacher hiring process.
The legislation creates a new funding mechanism to allow Delaware school districts to make offers to prosective teachers earlier. Previously, due to a funding formula based on late student count, districts often had to make offers just weeks before a new school year.
The education job fair at the Bob Carpenter Center has drawn school systems from Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, the District of Columbia, Virginia and Connecticut.
