New Castle County Police say two people were found dead at a New Castle apartment after negotiators spoke for hours with the suspected shooter.
Police said in a statement Monday that they are not actively searching for a suspect.
Police say officers sent to check on an apartment at the Georgetown Manor Apartments complex on Sunday evening heard a gunshot from the apartment and evacuated the building. Officers contacted the suspected shooter by telephone and the department’s negotiation team continued speaking with him for several hours.
While they spoke, police say officers heard what sounded like a gunshot. When officers entered the apartment, police say they found a male and female dead with apparent gunshot wounds.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
