Dangerous heroin batch blamed for recent overdoses in Atlantic County, N.J.

Law enforcement officials say some recent heroin overdoses in southern New Jersey are apparently linked to an extremely dangerous batch of the drug that’s been blamed for at least one death.

Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain says the heroin bags are stamped in purple letters with the phrase, “1 Stop.” He says five people were treated at hospitals for overdoses on Saturday, and one of them later died.

McClain says the overdoses occurred in different municipalities within the county, including Atlantic City and some inland locations.

Further details about the incidents, including where those people who overdosed may have bought the heroin, have not been disclosed.
