Cyclist struck, killed by bus in Northeast Philly

A bicyclist was struck and killed by a city bus in Northeast Philadelphia, authorities said.

Police said preliminary information indicates that the cyclist cut in front of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority bus shortly after noon Tuesday in the Bridesburg neighborhood and was struck.

The cyclist was taken to Aria Health-Frankford and pronounced dead minutes later.

SEPTA said the bus was in service but had no passengers.

The cyclist’s name wasn’t immediately released. The accident is under investigation.
