Children & Families First pays tribute to Governor Markell, First Lady Carla Markell

An organization dedicated to strengthening family relationships in the First State will honor Delaware Governor Jack Markell and First Lady Carla Markell tonight in Wilmington.

Children & Families First will present them with the J. Thompson Brown Award for their commitment to strengthening family life.  Additionally, Daniel Rich will receive the Muriel E. Gilman Family Advocacy Award for “advocacy efforts on behalf of children and families.”  Children & Families First has been in Delaware since 1884 and serves thousands of families and children across the state each year:  “young women seeking support to have a healthy baby…children in foster care awaiting a loving permanent home… teens in need of help to reconnect to their families…parents looking for better ways to communicate with their kids…families with limited resources taking care of an elderly parent…and more.”
