CHCA to review 8200 Germantown Ave. project tonight

A traffic analysis of the 8200 Germantown Ave. project will be discussed tonight at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 22 E. Chestnut Hill Ave. The meeting will be held in the Church’s Dixon House.

This will be a meeting by the Chestnut Hill Community Association’s Traffic, Transportation, and Parking Committee. Turnout is expected to big for tonight’s meeting. Many neighbors have expressed concern that the project could bring unwanted traffic onto their blocks.

Bowman Properties is trying to deal with this by reversing the direction of one block of West Hartwell Lane. Currently if you turn onto Hartwell lane from Germantown Ave. it is a one-way going west for one block. By reversing the traffic flow east, cars exiting the grocery store parking lot would head towards Germantown Ave. and not Shawnee St.

What is being built?

The plan is to build a Fresh Market grocery store where the Magarity Ford dealership was located. In addition, several boutique retail shops would face Germantown Ave. On top of those shops would be 14 condo units. At the rear of the site, fronting Shawnee Street, would be a row of nine townhouses

Who is building this?

Bowman Properties is the developer of the project. Bowman owns and manages commercial and residential properties.
