47-mile Delaware Ruck March pays tribute to troops

Some dedicated walkers are beginning a trek today from the Delaware Air Guard Base in New Castle to Dover Air Force Base.

The USO of Delaware says the event in which guard members contributed registration fees and raised funds “represents the long, challenging journey that military members and their families take to contribute to the security and safety of our great nation.”  Volunteers are on hand to make sure walkers are doing well and have enough water and other supplies.  Marchers were not actually required to carry a ruck sack or backpack and can finish as many miles as they wish.  Those who finish are expected to have been on the march for 20 to 22 hours.
