Art on the Lawn 2015, June 13th
Join the Newark Arts Alliance and the City of Newark as we continue a great new tradition! The City of Newark is presenting “A New Night Downtown” on Saturday, June 13, 2015, from 3pm to 9pm. As part of the festivities, the NAA is holding “Art on the Lawn,” featuring 25+ local artists displaying their art, crafts, and jewelry for sale on the Academy Building Lawn. There will also be an art activity for children. Come check it out, and help support your local arts community! Academy Building Lawn, Newark.
Peace, Love & Poetry, June 18th
“A Soul Opera…telling stories of love & life through songs and poetry!” Local and regional artist perform dramatic stories of love and life using a unique blend of poetry and songs backed by a live band and DJ. Hosted by SuiteFranchon. Featuring the Best Kept Soul Band. World Cafe Live at the Queen, Wilmington.
Kent County
This inaugural event will offer live bluegrass music, food to purchase, and beer tastings from local Delaware & Maryland breweries with a maximum of 500 participants. Each participant will pay an entrance fee ($100 – VIP, $30 – pre-registered, $40 at the door, $5 for designated driver) and receive a glass for their tastings. Food will be available for purchase. PLB Comics Presents: Creating Comics, June 18th
This event will feature the PLB Comics team sharing the process of comic book creation. From inception to completion, PLB’s writers and artists will guide attendees through the course of creating their very own comic books. Crafting riveting stories, laying out pages, drawing, inking and lettering will all be touched on. This free event is open to all who have an interest in creating comics, graphic novels or sequential art of any kind. Dover Public Library.

Spring Concert: Shall We Dance, June 14th
The Chorale celebrates songs about dance with a wide range of musical styles from show-tunes and pop favorites — to the classics. The country ballad, “I Hope You Dance,” ABBA’s “Dancing Queen,” Cole Porter’s stylistic “Begin the Beguine,” and some cherished waltz melodies from Brahms are just a few of the selections that will be performed. The Chorale will be joined by amazing Spanish dance artist Carol Basilio! Epworth United Methodist Church, Rehoboth Beach.
Family Boat Building Weekend, June 19th – 21st
Come support participating groups and families as they build shallow draft wooden boats called Bevin’s Skiffs, with help from The Lewes Historical Society’s Wooden Boat Crew in front of the Lewes Life-Saving Station. At roughly 12ft long, these wooden boats are great for fishing and recreation. The Bevin’s Skiff was created to be a teaching vessel, designed to be constructed by beginning builders, and is a perfect introductory boat for families. Lewes Life-Saving Station.
