2 Brooklyn residents seriously injured in Sunday morning Garden State Parkway crash

 A New York City teenager injured in a weekend crash on the Garden State Parkway remains hospitalized in critical condition.

New Jersey state police say 16-year-old Ruven Schachner, of Brooklyn, was a passenger in a car that crashed around 7:30 a.m. Sunday in a southbound lane of the highway, near milemarker 96.5 in Wall Township. They say the vehicle left the roadway and hit a sign post before it overturned.

The driver, 24-year-old Brooklyn resident Yisroel Schachner, was also hospitalized after the crash. But details on his injuries have not been disclosed.

Both victims had to be extricated from the vehicle.

The cause of the single-car crash remains under investigation.
