Urban birding
Listen 00:48:44Guests: Keith Russell, Matthew Halley, Paige Warren
Philadelphia is a great birding city. There have been over 320 bird species recorded in the City of Brotherly Love. And with spring migration starting, now is the time to take in the sights. You might spot an Eastern Phoebe, a Tree Swallow, a Chimney Swift, or a wood thrush. Today we’ll talk about urban birding and about how birds survive and thrive in cities. We’ll also get recommendations for bird hot spots in Philly and talk about ways to make cities more avian friendly. Marty’s guests are KEITH RUSSELL, Urban Conservation Program Manager for Audubon Pennsylvania, MATTHEW HALLEY, ornithologist and PhD student at Drexel University and the Academy of Natural Sciences, and PAIGE WARREN, Associate professor of environmental conservation at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
