Salvation Army building collapse report

    Listen

Guests: Glenn Corbett and Peter Vaira

A blue ribbon panel commissioned by Mayor Nutter to examine the Department of Licenses and Inspections following the June 5, 2013, Salvation Army building collapse that killed six people released its findings last week. To address a multitude of systemic issues within the department, the panel suggested a set of changes to its organization and structure, including splitting L&I into two departments. Commission chairman GLENN CORBETT of the John Jay College of Criminal Justice’s Department of Security, Fire and Emergency Management, and Philadelphia attorney PETER VAIRA, who serves as Executive Director of the Commission, join us to discuss their findings and recommendations.
