Pressure Cooker
Stakes are high and attitudes are fierce in Wilma Stephenson’s kitchen. Unlike cable TV’s “Top Chef” the cooks in her kitchen have to go through a metal detector before they stand before her uncompromising culinary scrutiny. A veteran culinary arts teacher of 40 years, Stephenson’s kitchen is in Frankford High School in Northeast Philadelphia. “Pressure Cooker” is a new documentary highlighting two semesters of tough love and cooking in her classes as she tries to get her students out of the neighborhood into a better world through scholarships at America’s top culinary schools. We’ll meet WILMA STEPHENSON and TYREE DUDLEY, a graduate of Frankford High School, a former all-state football player, who is currently a student at Bloomsburg University. Listen to the mp3
