Life After Deployment

Listen

returning homeHour 2

For veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan, years of war and multiple deployments take a toll. Reintegrating into “normal” life can be challenging. Iraq and Afghanistan veterans suffer high rates of depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, alcohol abuse, and suicide. Returning home, vets often have to cope with physical injuries, family stresses, and financial troubles. This hour, we’ll talk to two psychologists about the difficulties veterans and their families face adjusting to life away from the war zone. Our guests are Steven Sayers of the University of Pennsylvania and Bret Moore, a former Army psychologist.
